The short version: LittleBites stores your child's data privately on your device and on our secure servers. We do not sell your data. We do not share it with advertisers. We use AI to analyze meal photos and generate meal ideas — photos are processed and not stored by us. You are always in control.
1. Who We Are
LittleBites ("we," "our," or "us") is a nutrition tracking application for parents of babies and young children. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use the LittleBites mobile application.

2. Information We Collect
Information you provide directly
- Child profile data — your child's name, date of birth, feeding stage, known allergens, and nutrition goals. This is stored locally on your device and synced to our secure servers.
- Meal logs — food items, portions, calories, and nutrient estimates you log manually or via AI analysis.
- Food introduction logs — records of new foods introduced to your child and any reactions observed.
- Meal photos — if you use the photo logging feature, images are sent to our AI service (Anthropic Claude) for analysis and are not stored on our servers after processing.
- Voice descriptions — if you use voice logging, the text transcript of your description is sent to our AI service for analysis and is not stored after processing.
- Pediatrician report notes — optional notes you add when generating a report. These are included in the report PDF only and are not stored on our servers.
Information collected automatically
- Device information — operating system version, app version, and device type (for troubleshooting and compatibility).
- Usage analytics — anonymized, aggregated data about which features are used (e.g., how many meal logs are created per day). This data cannot be linked back to individual users.
- Crash reports — anonymized technical logs when the app encounters an error, to help us fix bugs.
Information we do NOT collect
- We do not collect your real name or email address to use the app (profiles are child-focused, not account-based).
- We do not collect precise location data.
- We do not collect contacts, browsing history, or any data from other apps.
- We do not store meal photos after AI analysis is complete.
3. How We Use Your Information
- To provide the app's core features — logging meals, tracking nutrition, generating ideas, and producing reports.
- To power AI features — meal photos and voice descriptions are sent to Anthropic's API for analysis. Anthropic processes this data according to their privacy policy. We send the minimum data necessary for each request.
- To process subscriptions — purchase and billing data is handled entirely by Apple App Store or Google Play. We do not see or store your payment information. Subscription status is verified via RevenueCat.
- To improve the app — anonymized, aggregated analytics help us understand which features are most useful and where to focus development.
- To fix bugs and issues — crash reports help us identify and resolve technical problems.
We never sell your data. We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information or your child's data to any third party, ever. Our business model is subscription-based, not advertising-based.
4. Children's Privacy (COPPA & GDPR-K)
LittleBites is designed to be used by parents and caregivers, not by children directly. The app collects information about children (such as age and feeding stage) at the direction of a parent or guardian, which is permitted under COPPA.
- We do not knowingly allow children under 13 to create accounts or use the app independently.
- All child profile data is entered by and controlled by the parent or guardian.
- Parents can delete their child's profile and all associated data at any time from within the app (Settings → Delete Profile).
- If you believe we have inadvertently collected information from a child without parental consent, please contact us at privacy@littlebites.app and we will delete it promptly.
5. Data Storage & Security
- On-device storage — your child's profile, meal logs, and food introduction history are stored locally on your device using secure storage.
- Server storage — data is backed up to our secure servers using industry-standard encryption (TLS in transit, AES-256 at rest).
- AI requests — meal photos and voice transcripts are transmitted over encrypted HTTPS connections to our API proxy server and then to Anthropic. Neither we nor Anthropic store these after processing.
- Access controls — only you can access your data. We do not access individual user data except in aggregate, anonymized form for analytics, or when required by law.
6. Third-Party Services
LittleBites uses the following third-party services:
- Anthropic (Claude API) — AI analysis of meal photos, voice descriptions, meal idea generation. Anthropic Privacy Policy
- RevenueCat — Subscription management and purchase verification. RevenueCat Privacy Policy
- Apple App Store / Google Play — App distribution and in-app purchases. Their respective privacy policies apply to payment processing.
- Railway / Fly.io — Hosting for our API proxy server. Data transmitted through the proxy is encrypted and not stored.
7. Your Rights & Choices
- Access — You can view all data stored about your child within the app at any time.
- Correction — You can edit any profile information, meal log, or food introduction entry within the app.
- Deletion — You can delete individual entries, a child's entire profile, or all app data from within the app. Deleting your data from the app removes it from our servers within 30 days.
- Data portability — You can export your meal log data from the app (Settings → Export Data) as a CSV file.
- Opt out of analytics — You can disable anonymized analytics in Settings → Privacy.
- California residents (CCPA) — You have the right to know what data we collect, request deletion, and opt out of sale (we do not sell data). Contact us at privacy@littlebites.app.
- EU/UK residents (GDPR) — You have rights to access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and objection. Contact us at privacy@littlebites.app or our EU representative.
8. Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as you have an active account with LittleBites. If you delete the app and request data deletion, we will delete all your data from our servers within 30 days, except where we are required by law to retain certain records.
Anonymized, aggregated analytics data (which cannot be linked to you) may be retained indefinitely.
9. Permissions We Request
- Camera — Required to take meal photos for AI-powered food logging (LittleBites Plus only). Used only when you actively initiate a photo log.
- Photo Library — Required to select existing photos from your library for meal logging (LittleBites Plus only). We only access photos you explicitly select.
- Microphone — Required for voice meal logging (LittleBites Plus only). Audio is converted to text and the text is sent to our AI for analysis. Audio recordings are not stored.
- Notifications — Optional. Used only for daily meal logging reminders if you enable them in Settings. You can disable these at any time.
10. International Data Transfers
LittleBites is operated from the United States. If you are located outside the United States, your data may be transferred to and processed in the United States. We comply with applicable data transfer requirements, including the EU-US Data Privacy Framework where applicable.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you through the app with at least 30 days' notice before the changes take effect. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
Continued use of LittleBites after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
